“Moss” handwoven basket
Mossy-coloured handwoven basket made from linen fabric scraps, repurposing off cuts from my zero-waste textile studio.
$189.00
Description
This handwoven basket repurposes scrap fabric from my zero-waste textile studio. Selvedges (edges of woven cloth) and other thin strips are braided together, then sewn in a spiral pattern to form a sturdy basket. The basket is sewn with waxed linen thread, using beeswax from local hives to strengthen and smooth the thread. Each basket takes months to gather the scrap material, braiding as I go, until I have a large ball of braided fabric. This is then coiled and hand-sewn into the basket you see.
The colour is a mossy green, speckled with neutral greys and a little yellow. A beautiful natural-toned item to decorate your home, and a perfect gift.
Measures 19cm across, 6cm high.
Caring for your handwoven basket
Spot-treat any marks with laundry soap and water. May be hand-washed, however this may make the basket softer in texture.
